Mission Discovery Group Survey - CLOSED
Dear Community Presbyterian Church member,
The Mission Discovery Group Survey has been a great success with over 80 responses; which is more than 72% of our membership. In the following weeks we will be tabulating the results and preparing them for the Pastor Nominating Committee.
Thank you and God bless,
Your Mission Discovery Group
EMAIL NEWSLETTER
We are changing into an electronic distribution of the newsletter. Beginning this month the majority of newsletters will be sent by electronic means. The cost of paper, toner and postage has made the newsletter increasingly more expensive and this a necessary costsaving measure.
Ways to continue to receive the newsletter:
- Make sure we have your current email address.
- Attend Church. (Those members without email can pick up their copy on Sunday)
- Let us know that you would like to continue to receive a copy mailed to you. (If you do not contact us you may no longer receive the newsletter.)
Letter From The Pastor
Dear family and friends of Community Presbyterian Church;
Haven't we had a spectacular fall? I don't remember such vivid colors since I left Northwest Ohio - forty one years ago! Driving the Sumner Buckley Highway every-day has allowed me the joy of watching the leaves change, the winds and rains blow them away and the sun peek out every once in a while to gild their colors.
Haven't we also had a spectacular fall in the church as well where we are the colors that make for a varied and beautiful worship to our God? As we greet, meet andshare with one another we grow and become more beautiful. As we learn more of God and God's Christ we reflect the light that is God's spirit working within us. Let's just be sure that we are not blown away or washed out as autumn leaves, but faith-ful to our calling continue to grow in Christ together.
We have been moving through this process we call Interim Ministry and have done some good preparation to move into our future. God is truly working within us andpreparing us for the next stage in our ministry. The Nominating Committee is listening intently to God as they determine who is being called to serve on your Pastor Nominating Committee. Be in prayerful discernment yourself; God may be calling you to this task.
We are still forming the Mission Discovery Groups and would love to have others join us. If you have any interest in discovering who the church is (demographics), what we do (mission and outreach), what the story of our life together is (churchrecords and history), how we spend our money (finances) and what our community thinks and does (fact finding), please talk with me about serving on one of these groups. All that they discover will be used for a Mission Study report which will begiven to the Pastor Nominating Committee to help them formulate a Mission Statement and fill out the Church Information Form - all of which is necessary to startreceiving dossiers from prospective pastors. Each session will involve prayer, BibleStudy and work on the tasks assigned to the groups. Don't miss this special opportunity!
Speaking of church: have you been talking with any of our visitors? Please encourage them to meet with me on Sunday, November 1 or give me a call at the church. I will be offering a new members' class to anyone interested. Please remember that being part of the class does not mean one has to join the church; but, one cannot join the church without being part of the class. Keep inviting others to walk with us on the path of Jesus.
God is leading us in powerful and beautiful ways. God is painting us in new colors. True, we must walk through the winter, but spring and the dazzling colors of new life are waiting for us. This can be an exciting time in the life of the church - trying new styles of worship, learning, teaching, mission, and outreach while keeping ourcore the same. This interim time can be a time to experiment with things we have never tried before without having to commit to anything new. It can and should be a time of discovery and a time to deepen our commitment to each other, the church of Jesus Christ in this place and time and to walk closer with our God.
May God strengthen you in every good way to walk faithfully with Christ,
- Pastor Elaine

THIS MONTH'S PRAYER
Almighty God, grant us wise minds this month, so that we can recognize all for which we should be grateful. Let our sincere thanksgiving bring You joy as we celebrate Your constant and many blessings.
Also grant us wisdom in our political decisions this month. Help us clearly hear Your guidance as we go to the polls. Please be with the candidates to comfort those who lose and make effective those who win. If it be Your will, let our country soon enter a time of effective problem-solving and new vision for a more fruitful future. We pray it in the name of Christ. Amen.
